sheep_master_iconSheep Master is a Christian based game for iPhone and iPad where you take on the role of a shepherd. In the app, you get to build a farm, take care of your flock of sheep and protect them against certain dangers they may face, develop defenses to face approaching enemies. Upon opening the app, you are presented with a guide who looks like an old man. You, on the other hand, are a young man holding a staff.

Throughout the tutorial, the old guide will tell you that you must protect your sheep and keep them alive and healthy. He teaches you how to utilize various resources around you like rocks and trees in order to earn income. Furthermore, he teaches you how to protect your your sheep against dangerous animals like wolves. The first thing worth mentioning is that all your sheep are stored inside the sheepfold, a place where they are protected. The sheepfold can be upgraded to fit more sheep.

In the game, there are three important resources. Stone, Wood, and Drachma. Stone is used for building advanced buildings, Wood is used to build farm buildings, and Drachma is the general currency of the game used for the buying and selling of sheep. Drachma can also be used for the construction of buildings and the hiring of workers that can lend a helping hand. As long as your sheep are taken care of, provided with food and water, and are protected from dangers; They will remain healthy and your sheep flock will grow. The bigger your flock of sheep is, the more Drachma you can collect. You can also buy and sell sheep for Drachma.

Sometimes, sheep may get lost. When a sheep is lost, you may leave the other sheep in the pasture and go search for the lost sheep. This feature alone teaches us the idea that sheep are helpless without their shepherd. Another potential danger other than wolves is thieves, they might try to steal your sheep, steal your money, or destroy your home, so protecting against them is essential. As you do certain actions in this game, parchments are unlocked. Parchments are bible verses or things Jesus said in the holy Bible, they can be used in certain situations when you are in trouble and they are really helpful.

The point of the game is to progress through the ranks for the purpose of eventually becoming a sheep master. What’s nice about the game is that there is always a father figure to guide you, much like there is a father figure guiding us in our everyday lives (God). The game tries to portray Christian concepts in a fun way and is successful at doing so. It puts the user in situations where he realizes that the words of Jesus are true, and ultimately the user can relate the relationship between the shepherd and his flock of sheep in the game, to the actual shepherd in real life (God) and his flock of sheep (humans). Truly, an amazing game that teaches many life lessons.
